Bus passengers in Dubai will now benefit from more accurate trip planning, thanks to a new partnership between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and American transit data provider Swiftly. The collaboration aims to improve the accuracy of the RTA’s Real-Time Passenger Information (RTPI) system, offering real-time updates on bus locations, traffic conditions, delays, and service disruptions.
These enhancements are available on various smart platforms, including the RTA’s S’hail app and other journey planning tools. Passengers will be able to better schedule their trips by knowing exactly when to reach the bus stop, reducing wait times and minimizing the risk of missing buses.
“Our partnership with Swiftly aims to improve customer awareness of real-time bus locations and any potential delays due to traffic conditions or accidents,” said Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency. “This collaboration will offer more accurate bus arrival predictions, ensuring passengers can better plan their journey.”
Jonathan Simkin, Co-founder and CEO of Swiftly, added that the partnership has already led to a 24% improvement in bus arrival time accuracy. “We are thrilled to help improve the rider experience and provide staff with modern tools to work more efficiently,” Simkin said.
