Dubai-bound flight cancelled after bird strike causes tire burst

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight to Dubai narrowly avoided a major mishap when its pilot applied an emergency brake after a bird struck the aircraft, causing one of its tires to burst, Dunya News reported on Thursday.

The incident occurred as the plane was preparing for takeoff. The bird hit the engine, resulting in the tire burst. Acting quickly, the pilot engaged the emergency brake, preventing a potentially serious accident.

Following the incident, PIA flight PK 223, which was set to carry 145 passengers, was canceled and rescheduled for the following day, Friday. Passengers were accommodated in a hotel for the night and will depart for Dubai on the rescheduled flight. A thorough inspection of the aircraft was conducted to ensure safety.
