A young motorcyclist was arrested by the Dubai Police for racing down a highway at a staggering speed of 280kmph.
The police authority shared a concerning video of the incident on X, the platform previously known as Twitter. In the clip, not only is the man seen racing at breakneck speeds, but he also lifts one wheel off the ground, further emphasizing the recklessness of his actions.
In response to the dangerous stunt, the police seized the motorbike. To retrieve it, the owner has been slapped with a Dh50,000 fine, aligning with the provisions of Decree 30 of 2023.
This year, Dubai revamped its traffic regulations, setting a Dh50,000 fine for several offenses. The list includes: riding recreational motorcycles on paved roads, endangering lives with reckless driving, running red lights, using tampered or fake number plates, intentionally damaging a police vehicle, and underage driving.
For impounded vehicles to be released, all fines related to the vehicle must be cleared, the violation must be corrected, and any other conditions set by the Dubai Police must be met.
