Dubai divers complete rare cave diving mission in Indonesia

A team of divers based in Dubai has recently wrapped up a challenging underwater training and exploration trip across remote regions of Indonesia, venturing into nearly 15 underwater caves that included saltwater, crystal, and solution formations. Spanning 12 flights, the expedition was a mix of rigorous training and cave diving exploration—anchored in remote locations and conducted in pure backpacker style.

Led by Dive Instructor Ray Dee, the team included Fred, Rolly, Kevin, and Esequio. They completed intensive training in Baubau and Butong Tenga before pushing onward to the secluded site of Lumbi-Lumbia in Buko Selatan, Banggai Islands Regency, Central Sulawesi. Known for its biodiversity and untouched underwater landscapes, Lumbi-Lumbia served as the perfect stage for a rare deep dive into intricate cave systems.

The divers clocked a total of 580 accumulated minutes underwater, strictly adhering to their certification limits while exploring the captivating underwater geography. They camped in tents and fully embraced the raw, unfiltered adventure of remote diving.

“Lumbi-Lumbia is unlike anywhere else—completely isolated, incredibly clear, and rich with marine life. The cave systems here are mesmerizing,” Ray Dee shared with TGFM.

This mission was organized by Seantric Diving and supported by local partners including Rock n’ Roll Divers (Baubau), Oceana Dive Lodge (Luwuk), and Banggai Cave Divers & Peling Cave Divers (Lumbi-Lumbia). The entire journey was captured by One20studio, with invaluable assistance from Indonesian dive guides Diar, Nyonk, Boger, and Omo.
