Emirates NBD has apologized to customers following a wave of panic caused by SMS alerts showing unauthorized transactions that appeared to drain their accounts.
The incident, which unfolded on Sunday, involved messages labeled “RA DISB MIGRATION” that led several residents to believe their funds had vanished. Social media was quickly flooded with posts from concerned account holders claiming their balances had dropped to zero.
In a clarification message to customers, the bank said the alerts were sent “in error” during a system upgrade. “There are no changes to your account balance,” the bank assured.
The bank urged customers to “disregard” the SMS and added, “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
