A Guinness World Records™ bid involving more than two tonnes of cheese is set to take place in Dubai later this month, placing the spotlight on scale and culinary diversity rather than a single dining event. On 28 January 2026, Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Deira Creek will serve as the venue for an official attempt to assemble the largest-ever showcase of cheese varieties, a benchmark that currently stands at 1,001.
The record attempt is scheduled to coincide with Gulfood and will unfold inside Dubai’s first five-star hotel, which is marking its 50th year of operations. Organisers expect chefs, culinary professionals and members of international culinary guilds to attend, alongside invited Michelin-recognised figures. The display is designed to feature cheeses sourced from major producing regions, spanning Europe, North America and the Gulf.
The initiative forms part of Date-a-Cheese, an international food festival developed by Argos Start LLC that focuses on pairing cheeses with dates, a staple closely linked to regional heritage. The record effort is being mounted in collaboration with the Emirates Culinary Guild, international cheese specialist Elie Makhlouf, and food supplier Greenhouse Foodstuff LLC. Alongside the record showcase, the programme includes The Art of Serving Cheese Awards, a competitive platform recognising originality and presentation across hotels, restaurants and catering businesses.
Cheese styles planned for inclusion range from established European classics to Mediterranean and Middle Eastern staples, reflecting both traditional techniques and contemporary production. Organisers have described the installation as a curated representation of global cheese-making rather than a commercial tasting event.
After the record attempt, the broader Dubai Big Cheese Experience will open to the public on 30 and 31 January, operating from 6 pm to 11 pm each evening. Access will be offered through single-day and two-day passes priced at AED 99 and AED 189 respectively, allowing visitors to explore the exhibition in a late-night festival setting.
The Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Deira Creek, overlooking Dubai Creek, has long been associated with large-scale social and culinary gatherings, supported by its waterfront location and historic status within the city’s hospitality sector. The record attempt and accompanying festival add to a calendar of events marking the hotel’s anniversary year.
