The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced an increase in the maximum speed limits on sections of Al Amardi Street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street, effective from September 30, 2024.
On Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, the speed limit will rise to 100 km/h between Dubai Al Ain Road and Academic City Roundabout, while the section between Academic City Roundabout and Al Khawaneej Street will be adjusted to 90 km/h. Additionally, the speed limit on Al Amardi Street will be standardised to 90 km/h between Al Khawaneej Street and Emirates Road.
These changes, implemented in coordination with the Dubai Police, aim to improve traffic flow and enhance road safety. The RTA will update road signs and markings to reflect the new limits.
Both streets have recently undergone development, including lane expansions and intersection upgrades, which prompted the speed limit adjustments. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street’s ongoing development is set for full completion by 2030, while Al Amardi Street now features improved service roads and a newly signal-controlled intersection.
