Dubai Airport’s new smart corridor clears passengers in just 6 seconds

Dubai has introduced a groundbreaking innovation at its international airport — the world’s first “Red Carpet” corridor, designed to transform the way travelers pass through passport control.

Developed by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in partnership with Dubai Airports, the corridor enables passengers to complete immigration checks in as little as six seconds, without presenting any travel documents. Using artificial intelligence and biometric recognition, the system verifies identities in advance, allowing for seamless entry.

Unlike traditional counters that process one passenger at a time, the smart corridor can handle up to ten people simultaneously, drastically cutting waiting times while maintaining strict security. Those flagged for special cases are still routed to manual inspection to ensure safety standards are upheld.

Authorities highlighted that this innovation not only enhances efficiency but also reinforces Dubai International Airport’s reputation as the world’s busiest hub for international passengers for 11 years running. The launch is part of the emirate’s larger vision to cement its leadership in smart travel solutions and redefine the airport experience for millions of travelers.
