Dubai Police, in its relentless pursuit of maintaining security and safety, has recorded an impressive arrest rate of 49.6% of suspected drug dealers in the second quarter of this year. This significant achievement was revealed during the visit of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, to the Dubai Police Officers Club.
The Crown Prince was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, along with other senior officers. During his tour, he took a moment to commend the Dubai Police for their world-class security model, underpinned by the vision of the UAE’s leadership and the synergies between federal and local entities.
Sheikh Hamdan was especially impressed with the utilization of cutting-edge technology, particularly artificial intelligence, by the General Department of Anti-Narcotics. He applauded their collaboration with international entities, which not only led to the busting of drug syndicates but also the sharing of valuable information with other countries.
For the second quarter alone, the Department made 28 arrests, seizing a staggering 431 kilograms of illegal substances, including over 3.33 million narcotic pills. They also proactively blocked 560 social media accounts involved in the promotion of narcotics.
Highlighting the indispensable role of female officers in Dubai Police, Sheikh Hamdan acknowledged their contribution in bolstering the city’s security infrastructure.
