Christian Tee — the Divisoria porter whose spontaneous on-air reporting recently went viral — has shared that he is now receiving assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development–National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) under its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
On Facebook, Tee posted a photo of himself with individuals wearing DSWD shirts, accompanied by the message: “Thank you so much po DSWD NCR Sustainable livelihood Program. Tutulungan po nila ako para maka pag simula ng negosyo.” The post shows him seated at a dining table with two adults, smiling for the camera in what appears to be a mall food court.
The update comes just days after Tee gained national attention for approaching ABS-CBN News reporters in Divisoria and delivering an impromptu live report. Online reaction praised his confidence and natural delivery, with many Filipinos urging media organizations to consider giving him opportunities.
SLP is a national initiative designed to help poor or vulnerable households secure sustainable income. Depending on assessment and eligibility, beneficiaries may receive seed capital, skills training, or assistance in finding formal employment. According to program information, the micro-enterprise track can provide start-up support for small businesses and may include grants or training depending on the project.
Tee previously shared that he works as a porter and had to stop school due to financial constraints. His viral appearance prompted widespread public encouragement, with social media users calling his story a reminder of how many talents emerge from ordinary workplaces.
