A man believed to be intoxicated drowned after going for a swim in the sea off Iloilo City, according to a report from GMA Regional TV’s Balitanghali on Thursday.
Video footage showed the man entering the water, seemingly unbothered at first. Moments later, he moved farther away from shore, eventually disappearing from the camera’s view. Witnesses from the barangay said the man failed to make it back to shore.
His lifeless body was recovered two hours later.
Authorities have identified the victim as a resident of Hamtic, Antique. Efforts are ongoing to locate and inform his family.
