Download your Digital National ID now, PSA tells Filipinos

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is encouraging all registered Filipinos to immediately download and start using their Digital National ID, a move aimed at making government services and everyday transactions more accessible and secure.

According to a report from Inquirer.net, the Digital National ID serves as the official electronic version of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) card. It can be accessed through the eGovPH app or the PhilSys website and is legally accepted in both public and private dealings, including transactions with banks, remittance centers, and other institutions under the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

“For everyone who has successfully registered, your National ID is just a few taps away,” PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, said. “We encourage you to immediately access your Digital National ID, a reliable and secure valid ID that can be conveniently presented in transactions through your smartphone.”

The PSA stressed that printing or reproducing the digital ID on paper or plastic cards is prohibited, warning that only the agency is authorized to issue official formats. Unauthorized use or duplication may result in penalties under Republic Act No. 11055, also known as the PhilSys Act.

The initiative is part of the PSA’s partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to streamline services, cut bureaucracy, and expand digital access across the country. PSA officials added that the digital format carries the same legal weight as the physical card and is protected by strict data privacy and security protocols.

PSA Assistant Secretary Fred Pascual Bautista further emphasized that more Filipinos have already benefited from the convenience of the digital ID. He urged those who have not yet accessed their copy to download it through the eGovPH app and take advantage of its features.
