The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed charges against Shiela Guo, the alleged sister of ousted Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, and Cassandra Li Ong, the authorized representative of a raided POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed in an ambush interview that the charges were filed on Tuesday in a Pasay court.
Guo faces charges for disobedience to a Senate summons and allegedly using a fake Philippine passport, as recommended by the National Prosecution Service. Ong is charged with disobedience to a summons issued by the House of Representatives and obstruction of justice for allegedly helping a criminal offender evade authorities.
Both Guo and Ong were intercepted in Indonesia last week and returned to the Philippines to face separate congressional investigations. Guo, who claims to be a Chinese citizen named Zhang Mier, stated that she, Alice Guo, and their alleged brother Wesley Guo left the Philippines by boat and later met Ong in Malaysia. However, Remulla dismissed Guo’s statements as unreliable and showed little interest in considering her as a state witness.
The charges of falsification against Guo and Ong have been referred to the National Bureau of Investigation and other relevant law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
