The Department of Health (DOH) reported an increase in active mpox cases, now totaling 18. Health Secretary Ted Herbosa stated that five of the cases have recovered and have been released from isolation.
The four new mpox cases are all male, with two from Metro Manila and two from Calabarzon. The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, along with eight government hospitals, is equipped to conduct mpox testing, including facilities such as East Avenue Medical Center and San Lazaro Hospital.
In a related update, dengue cases have surged nationwide, with 208,965 cases recorded as of September 6, a significant rise compared to the 124,157 cases in the same period last year.
