The Department of Health (DOH) has extended psychosocial support to Filipinos currently staying in Israel, following recent military actions between Israel and Iran.
In a statement, the DOH confirmed that around 60 overseas Filipinos in Israel received online counseling on Saturday, with Health Secretary Ted Herbosa overseeing the session.
“To our dear overseas Filipinos in Israel, the whole of the Philippine government stands with you during these difficult times. We know that the situation in Israel is incredibly challenging,” Herbosa said.
The session was conducted with the help of specialists from Mariveles Mental Health and Wellness General Hospital, including six psychiatrists and 11 psychosocial facilitators.
According to the DOH, the Health Emergency Management Bureau plans to offer counseling every two weeks, adjusting the frequency based on individual needs.
The Department of Foreign Affairs earlier raised Alert Level 3 in Israel and Iran, which advises voluntary repatriation. An estimated 30,000 Filipinos currently live in Israel.
