Dog rescued after nine family members die in Jeju Air crash, awaits new home

A dog named Pudding, who tragically lost her family in the Jeju Air crash, has been rescued by South Korean animal rights group Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE).

The crash occurred on December 29 when a Jeju Air flight from Bangkok to South Korea crashed during landing, leaving only two survivors among the 181 passengers. Among the casualties was a family of nine from Yeonggwang County in South Jeolla province.

Left behind, Pudding stayed near the family’s home, refusing to leave and repeatedly returning to the spot, watching passing cars as if waiting for her owners. Neighbors attempted to care for her, but Pudding’s persistent vigil worried locals.

CARE located Pudding near the village’s community center and transported her to a veterinary hospital in Seoul for treatment after discovering she had consumed harmful items while scavenging for food.

The organization has vowed to care for Pudding until a suitable new guardian is found to provide her with a loving home.
