Yugo, a beloved Belgian Malinois, has been hailed as a hero in Panabo City, Davao, after bravely defending his family from a venomous cobra. The canine’s valiant act cost him his life, but saved his owners, Bryan and Cindy Sandigan, from potential harm.
According to a GMA News report, Yugo was discovered lifeless in the family’s garage within their subdivision last Friday evening, alongside the remains of a Samar Cobra, a highly venomous species native to the Visayas and Mindanao.
Despite succumbing to the snake’s poison, Yugo’s sacrifice was not in vain. His family attested that this wasn’t the first time he had protected them from such danger, marking it as the third and final incident.
The Sandigan family expressed deep sorrow over Yugo’s sudden demise, noting that the location of their subdivision was previously abundant with grass and vegetation, potentially attracting such wildlife.
Yugo’s partner, Ally, who is currently pregnant, remains with the family, providing some solace amid their grief.
Condolences poured in from netizens, with many considering Yugo a true hero for his selfless act of bravery in protecting his loved ones.
