The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has welcomed the State of Kuwait’s Appeal Court decision to uphold the guilty verdict and 16-year prison sentence against the individual convicted of murdering Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Jullebee Ranara.
The Appeal Court affirmed a sentence of 15 years imprisonment for murder and a further year of imprisonment for driving without a license.
The DMW has informed the Ranara family of the ruling and reassured them of continued support. Acting DMW head, Undersecretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac stated the department will work with legal counsel to file a civil damages suit against the father of the convicted perpetrator.
