The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Friday assured overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families that its services will remain uninterrupted despite the courtesy resignation of Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive for Cabinet recalibration.
In a statement, the DMW said it fully supports the President’s move to realign government efforts with public expectations, emphasizing that the department remains “committed to providing better and more responsive services” during this transition period.
“The well-being of OFWs and their families is our utmost priority,” the DMW stressed. It also affirmed that the agency—alongside the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Migrant Workers Offices (MWOs), and regional offices—will continue working to ensure that Filipino migrants are “valued, respected, and given opportunities for growth and development.”
Secretary Cacdac tendered his resignation in response to the President’s recent call for all Cabinet officials to step down to pave the way for a performance-based realignment of his administration. The President earlier said, “It’s time to realign government with the people’s expectations,” and noted that only those who deliver results will be asked to stay.
The DMW’s message reinforces the administration’s commitment to stability and service continuity, even as leadership roles are reevaluated. “Sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the statement concluded, “patuloy ang walang patid na suporta at pagserbisyo sa ating mga Bagong Bayani at kanilang pamilya.”
