DMW rescues three OFWs from poor living conditions in Jeddah

Three Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia have been rescued after being found living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions, according to a Super Radyo dzBB report by Mao dela Cruz on Tuesday.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), along with the Jeddah Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA), conducted an unannounced inspection at a foreign recruitment agency’s accommodation. Officials discovered that the site lacked sufficient food, had broken beds, and had malfunctioning air conditioning.

Following the inspection, the DMW confirmed that the agency’s employment document processing had already been suspended since July. Authorities assured that similar surprise visits will continue to ensure the safety and proper treatment of OFWs in the region.
