The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has partnered with Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation (ACAC) and Cebu Pacific to establish an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Center at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).
The new facility aims to provide essential services for OFWs and their families traveling through Cebu. According to DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac, the center will serve as a dedicated space for support, guidance, and assistance, highlighting the government’s commitment to the welfare of Filipino workers abroad.
Designed as a one-stop hub, the OFW Center will offer key DMW services, including pre-departure document verification, Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) processing, and immediate assistance for departing and returning OFWs.
Developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the project will be partially funded by Cebu Pacific, while ACAC will allocate a six-square-meter space in Terminal 2 free of charge for five years. Construction is set to begin this month, with operations expected to start in the second quarter of the year.
MCIA General Manager and CEO Julius G. Neri emphasized the airport’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience and ensuring that the facility can expand to meet the needs of OFWs. As one of the Philippines’ busiest airports, MCIA serves as a crucial hub in Central Visayas, connecting travelers to 14 international destinations.
