The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced a new pilot project to recruit 100 caregivers in the Philippines for employment opportunities in South Korea.
“The project aims to expand bilateral labor ties between the Philippines and Korea and assess the feasibility of a larger caregiver deployment plan between the two countries,” the DMW said in a statement.
This initiative falls under South Korea’s Employment Permit System (EPS), a program that allows Korean employers to hire foreign workers to fill positions where local candidates are unavailable.
Qualified caregivers will be responsible for assisting South Korean families with childcare, daily chores like cleaning and laundry, and providing support to pregnant women.
Those interested in applying must possess a TESDA National Certificate (NC) II Caregiving Certificate and be between the ages of 24 and 38.
“Selected applicants will undergo comprehensive medical, psychological, language, and physical tests. They will receive pre-departure and post-arrival training sessions,” the DMW explained.
The agency further noted that prospective Korean families will also be included in the orientation sessions.
Registration for the caregiver pilot project will open on Thursday, May 9, and close on Friday, May 10.
