The Philippines’ Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Finland’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment have formalized a partnership through the signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) on Thursday. This collaboration aims to address Finland’s labor shortages while providing Filipino specialists and skilled workers access to lucrative job opportunities in the Nordic country.
With Finland consistently ranking among the happiest nations globally and offering a high quality of life, this agreement is expected to attract many Filipino professionals. Finnish employers are known for promoting work-life balance, inclusivity, and equal opportunities, making the country an ideal destination for expatriates.
Under the new partnership, Filipino nurses could earn between ₱130,000 and ₱210,000 monthly, while skilled workers stand to make approximately ₱96,000. These competitive salaries are coupled with Finland’s reputation for excellent working conditions and a welcoming environment for foreign workers.
In recent years, Finland has faced challenges in meeting workforce demands, particularly in the healthcare and technical industries. This agreement not only supports the country’s growing need for talent but also highlights the global recognition of Filipino professionals’ skills and expertise.
