DMW chief: Marcos wants every OFW to experience real care from the government

Filipinos in Austria gathered in Vienna to meet Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac during the “Kumustahan with Sec Hans,” an open forum designed to connect overseas Filipinos directly with the government.

The event brought together migrant workers, community leaders, and advocates who shared their experiences and offered suggestions to enhance programs that support OFWs and their families.

Cacdac provided updates on several government initiatives, including the expansion of the OFW Hospital’s services, the AKSYON Fund for distressed workers, reintegration efforts for returning OFWs, and the ongoing digitalization of DMW systems to improve accessibility and efficiency. He also mentioned active bilateral talks with host countries such as Austria, focusing on protecting workers’ rights and creating more opportunities for skilled Filipino professionals.

“Ang tagubilin po parati ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., siguraduhing nararamdaman ng bawat OFW ang tunay na malasakit at proteksyon ng ating pamahalaan,” Cacdac said. “Kaya tuwing may pagkakataon akong makausap ang ating mga kababayan, sinisigurado kong marinig mismo ang inyong mga kwento. Hearing directly from our kababayans inspires us to serve better.”

He added that every encounter with Filipino workers reinforces the DMW’s mission to ensure that “no OFW feels left behind.”
