DMW brings over 4,700 overseas job opportunities to Filipinos in Labor Day job fair

In celebration of the 123rd Labor Day, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in collaboration with Robinsons Malls and 11 licensed recruitment agencies, held a major overseas job fair at Robinsons Galleria on May 1, 2025, aiming to provide safer, legitimate employment pathways for Filipinos seeking work abroad.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac highlighted the administration’s commitment to public service, stressing the government’s mission to bring its services closer to the people. “Gustong-gusto ng ating mahal na Pangulo na maramdaman ninyo ang serbisyo ng pamahalaan,” he said.

More than 4,700 job orders were made available during the fair through eight land-based recruitment firms and three manning agencies, all duly licensed by the DMW. The event emphasized not only employment but also the campaign against illegal recruitment and trafficking. Cacdac reminded jobseekers to remain cautious: “Tourist visa ang number one indicator ng illegal recruitment.”

Undersecretary for Foreign Employment and Welfare Felicitas Q. Bay reassured attendees that all participating agencies were legitimate, reinforcing DMW’s dedication to safe and legal overseas employment. Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary Levinson Alcantara introduced new tech-enabled processes, including online pre-registration and QR code scanning to streamline applications and avoid unauthorized recruiters.

Robinsons Malls Senior Marketing Director Jess Zulueta III emphasized the company’s role in supporting national development, saying, “We want to help address employment and champion against illegal recruitment.”

Also present was Elcid C. Pangilinan, President and CEO of OF Bank, who highlighted the bank’s role in providing secure, low-cost financial services to OFWs and their families.

Secretary Cacdac ended the event with a message of pride and optimism: “We are proud of [Filipino workers]—they help our country, and they are helping the world.”
