A former policeman turned vlogger, Francis Steve Fontillas, was arrested in Quezon City on Tuesday over allegations of inciting to sedition following his online remarks criticizing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Fontillas, who was earlier dismissed from the police force for grave misconduct and disloyalty, was taken into custody based on a warrant issued by Judge Zita Marie Atienza-Fajardo of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 224. The charges stem from his Facebook posts reportedly calling for the ouster of the Marcos administration after the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte on March 11.
Authorities said the arrest was in connection with a complaint under the Cybercrime Prevention Act, citing online incitement to sedition. The court recommended a bail of P36,000 for his temporary release.
Fontillas, whose name has gained traction online for his controversial content, has not publicly responded to the charges as of this writing.
