Discover the beauty of flight and freedom in this Filipino art showcase in Antipolo

This December, art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike are invited to embark on a journey of self-discovery, spirituality, and environmental consciousness through the mesmerizing works of Filipino artist Nathaniel San Pedro. Titled “Elysian Reflections: An Aviary Journey,” this exhibition marks San Pedro’s fourth solo showcase and is set to run from December 1 to 15, 2024, at Cafe Lupe Antipolo, located along Sumulong Highway. The artist reception will take place on December 1, 2024, at 4:00 PM.

This unique event, part of the VELVET APPLE Mabolo Project and presented by Nathaniel’s Art Mansion and Spin Art Gallery, invites viewers to explore themes of freedom, interconnectedness, and conservation through the powerful symbolism of birds. San Pedro’s fascination with birds as emblems of personal growth and transcendence comes to life in this collection, blending his background in psychology with his passion for nature. His work encourages viewers to reflect on their own journeys and to consider humanity’s delicate relationship with the natural world.

At the heart of the exhibition lies San Pedro’s masterpiece, “Wanderers” – a stunning installation that captures the movement and grace of birds in flight, reflecting the themes of freedom and fragility. As audiences engage with the artwork, they are encouraged to consider their own paths toward self-discovery, growth, and the human desire for liberation. The exhibition emphasizes the importance of environmental conservation, with a particular focus on Filipino bird species, aiming to raise awareness of the beauty and vulnerability of these creatures and their habitats.

San Pedro’s journey into the world of art began at the age of seven when he discovered his natural gift for painting, winning recognition in local contests during his school years. Although he initially pursued a degree in psychology to fulfill his family’s wishes, his passion for art never waned. After spending a decade in the corporate world, where he rose to the role of recruitment manager, San Pedro rekindled his love for painting through a simple Christmas gift exchange that reignited his creative spark.

In 2019, encouraged by the positive response his works received on social media, San Pedro took a bold leap of faith to become a full-time artist. His page, the_art_mansion, quickly gained a following, with many of his paintings being sold soon after posting. Drawing inspiration from Confucius and Pablo Picasso, San Pedro envisioned The Art Mansion as a haven for creativity, where art and passion intertwine to fuel a fulfilling career.

San Pedro’s work has been celebrated in various exhibitions and media, earning him awards and features in magazines, newspapers, and even television. His art speaks to the universal themes of growth, spirituality, and resilience, reflecting his belief that art is a calling, a passion that is not random but deeply rooted in one’s purpose.
