The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination announced on September 1 that parking permits for people of determination in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have transitioned to a digital format. This shift to digital permits allows individuals to carry their permits on their mobile devices, eliminating the need for physical copies.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the new digital permits are electronically linked to systems in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, providing a seamless experience for users with active permits in either emirate. This change aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for people of determination when traveling between the two cities.
While Abu Dhabi offers free parking for people of determination in paid spaces, Dubai continues to charge for parking in these areas.
“This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing the quality of life for people of determination,” stated Salama Al Reyami, head of networks and operations at the organisation. “We are moving forward in our efforts towards sustainability and digital transformation to create a more accessible future.”
In Sharjah, a similar initiative has been implemented since May, where the parking system is automatically linked to people of determination’s ID cards, eliminating the need to display the card on their vehicles’ dashboards.
People of determination across the UAE can apply for these permits online at no cost, simplifying the process and ensuring easy access for all.
