DFA warns public of fake e-visa websites

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has issued a warning regarding fraudulent websites falsely claiming to offer Philippine electronic visas (e-visas) online.

This announcement comes ahead of the soft-launch of the e-visa program in China, slated for August 24.

In a report provided to PhilStar, the DFA stated, “The Philippine e-Visa will allow foreign nationals entering the country for tourism or business to apply for temporary visitors’ visas remotely through their personal computers, laptops, and mobile devices.” The agency has received multiple complaints about a particular website disseminating misleading information about the Philippine e-visa system.

To combat misinformation, the DFA emphasizes that genuine e-Visa details will only be released via its official communication avenues. In collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the e-Visa system’s development and refinement are ongoing.
