Since January 2023, the Philippine government has successfully repatriated 763 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their family members from Kuwait, as confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Recent repatriations saw 108 OFWs and their kin returning home on August 14 and 15, spanning three separate flights.
A significant portion of these repatriated individuals were undocumented Filipinos, previously sheltered at the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait.
In an effort to ease the transition, the DFA-Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs bore the cost of the one-way tickets through their Assistance To Nationals fund.
This repatriation initiative was spearheaded by Philippine Ambassador Jose Cabrera III, working closely with the Migrant Workers Office in Kuwait.
