The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that several Filipinos were among those who died in a tourist bus accident on a New York State highway.
In a statement, the DFA expressed sympathy for the victims and their families. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this incident,” the agency said.
The Consulate General of the Philippines in New York said it is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities. However, U.S. officials have withheld further details out of respect for the privacy of the victims, noting that families will be contacted directly.
The Philippine consulate assured that it stands ready to provide assistance to those affected. Victims or their next of kin may reach out through the Assistance-to-Nationals Hotline at (917) 294-0196.
