Early Saturday morning, a dense fog descended upon the country following forecasts by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) of lower temperatures and heavy rains for the coming week. The NCM has issued a red alert, advising residents of the dense fog and warning of potential visibility deterioration, which could drop significantly at times.
Sheikh Zayed Road experienced reduced visibility, prompting the display of messages urging motorists to “reduce speed” and “use fog lights.” The Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers appeared as if enveloped in clouds due to the dense fog affecting visibility in these high-rise dense areas.
In response to the fog, Abu Dhabi Police issued multiple advisories and reduced speed limits on several roads to enhance driving safety. Despite the morning fog, the NCM’s forecast for today predicts fair to partly cloudy weather, turning cloudy by night over some coastal and northern areas, with a chance of light rainfall on Sunday morning.
Temperatures are expected to rise, reaching up to 30ºC in some parts of the country, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai seeing highs of 29ºC and 28ºC, respectively. The lowest temperatures could be 20ºC in Abu Dhabi, 19ºC in Dubai, and as low as 7ºC in mountainous regions.
Humidity levels will vary, ranging from 35 to 75 percent in Abu Dhabi and 55 to 90 percent in Dubai. Sea conditions are anticipated to be slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
