Mexico police arrested a man, identified as Carlos “N”, and his Chucky doll, for scaring residents in Monclova, Coahuila.
The doll, dubbed a “demon doll” by local authorities, was used to brandish an actual size knife and demand money.
The pair was apprehended on September 11, after posing a threat to the public and disrupting the peace. According to the former head of Monclova Police, Juan Ral Alcocer, Carlos is suspected of having used drugs. “He put the doll in their faces and was scaring people, it is an offense, (and) for this reason he was arrested,” Alcocer stated, as reported by the New York Post.
Upon arrival at the police station, both Carlos and the Chucky doll were handcuffed, and mugshots were taken. The doll, sporting its signature denim dungarees, was propped against the wall and held by its hair for the photograph. This image subsequently went viral, sparking amusement and bewilderment online.
An officer was seen laughing while holding up the knife confiscated from Chucky and was later reprimanded for not maintaining professionalism. Although Carlos has since been released, the current whereabouts of the Chucky doll remain unknown, according to Reuters.
Chucky gained notoriety from the 1988 horror film ‘Child’s Play’, depicted as a possessed doll with the strength of a fully grown man, brought to life through voodoo.
