Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief and now senator, Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, denied involvement in allegations that a former PNP chief received bribes to help Alice Guo, a dismissed Bamban mayor, flee the country.
Dela Rosa addressed the issue during a Senate panel hearing on women, after Pagcor senior vice president Raul Villanueva claimed that an unnamed former PNP chief was on a payroll and helped Guo and her companions escape despite being on an immigration watchlist.
Concerned about being implicated, Dela Rosa asked Guo directly if he was involved in any bribery or if she knew him personally. Guo denied the claims, saying, “Wala pong gano’ng nangyayari” (No such thing happened) and confirmed they had never met before.
Dela Rosa also pressed Villanueva for details on the identity of the former PNP chief in question. Villanueva responded, “I don’t have any confirmation but I’m sure you’re not the one, I think so.”
Dela Rosa emphasized the need to clear his name, stating, “Siniguro ko lang dahil baka mamaya may lalabas na script diyan na ako ‘yung former Chief PNP na tumatanggap sa’yo ng pera. Klaruhin ko lang ito.” (I just want to ensure nothing comes out implying that I, the former PNP chief, received money from you. I want to clarify this.)
