In a bold legal move, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Mel Robles and his wife, Sherwil Robles, have initiated defamation and invasion of privacy lawsuits against vlogger Grace Contreras, known as Maharlika. The charges, filed in the Central District Court of California, stem from what the Robles couple describes as a relentless campaign of baseless and malicious accusations.
For nearly a year, the Robles family claims to have been targeted by Contreras through her YouTube channel, Boldyak TV. According to Mel Robles, the accusations have severely impacted their personal lives and professional reputations. “These cases are about our quest for justice and the defense of our name, honor, integrity, and reputation,” Robles stated, emphasizing the personal toll of the alleged defamation.
The legal battle took a decisive turn when Contreras allegedly posted a picture of the Robles’ 13-year-old daughter. “Publishing the picture of my child crossed a line. The accusations were already damaging, but exposing my daughter to potential harm was the final straw,” Robles explained.
Contreras has yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit.
To navigate the high-stakes legal landscape, the Robleses have enlisted Camille Vasquez, renowned for her successful representation of actor Johnny Depp in his defamation case. “We chose a lawyer who specializes in reputation and brand management. Camille Vasquez saw the merit in our case, and we believe she is the right person to help us seek justice,” Robles said.
Beyond personal grievances, Robles suggests that Contreras’ actions may be politically motivated. As a critic of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration, Contreras appears to target individuals associated with the current government. “It’s a logical conclusion given her pattern of behavior,” Robles noted.
The 23-page complaint outlines the reasons for filing in California, citing Contreras’ residency and the significant connection of the events to the judicial district. The couple is seeking damages exceeding $75,000.
In a stern message to Contreras, Robles declared, “Justice is coming to your doorstep. The Pacific Ocean won’t shield you from facing the consequences of your actions. It’s time to be accountable.”
