De Lima takes over as House senior deputy minority leader after Erice’s ouster

Caloocan City Rep. Edgar Erice lost his post as House senior deputy minority leader on Tuesday after Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan moved during the regular session to remove him and install a successor.

Libanan nominated Mamamayang Liberal party-list Rep. Leila De Lima to fill the vacancy. Deputy Speaker Yevgeny Vicente Emano of Misamis Oriental’s 2nd District, who was presiding over the session at the time, declared that the motion had been approved.

The leadership shakeup came on the same day Erice pulled his name as author of a proposed anti-political dynasty measure during a meeting of the House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms.
