De Lima rallies behind Pangilinan and Aquino’s Senate bids

Former Senator Leila de Lima has thrown her support behind her allies, ex-senators Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and Bam Aquino, as they gear up for the 2025 senatorial race.

De Lima joined Pangilinan, along with former Rep. Erin Tañada, at the Manila Hotel Tent City on Tuesday, where Pangilinan filed his certificate of candidacy for senator.

“Senators like Kiko and Bam truly deserve to return to the Senate. Their quality, character, dedication, and track record are beyond question,” De Lima told reporters outside the venue.

She emphasized the importance of bringing back lawmakers like Pangilinan and Aquino to ensure meaningful discussions and beneficial legislation for the Filipino people. “It’s crucial that we bring back individuals like them for more significant debates and laws that will help our citizens,” she added.

De Lima expressed optimism for the upcoming elections, noting that the opposition, particularly the Liberal Party, is more prepared and determined this time around, despite setbacks in the 2022 polls. “We are stronger now, and the resolve of the opposition is much firmer,” she said.

Over the weekend, De Lima, alongside Tañada and Teddy Baguilat, also filed a certificate of nomination for the Mamamayang Liberal Party-list.
