Veteran journalist and corporate communications expert Dave Gomez has been appointed as the new chief of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Malacañang confirmed on Thursday.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro announced during a press briefing that Gomez had officially accepted President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s offer to lead the PCO, replacing acting secretary Jay Ruiz.
Gomez, a former Malacañang reporter during the administration of President Fidel V. Ramos, becomes the fifth person to hold the position since Marcos Jr. took office in 2022.
Before his return to government service, Gomez carved a name in both media and the private sector. He spent over a decade as a journalist before moving into advertising with Leo Burnett Manila. He later served as director general of the Philippine Information Agency. His most recent role was head of communications for Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corp. Inc., linked to the Lucio Tan Group.
