Filipino pop-rock band Cup of Joe has officially confirmed that its much-anticipated Stardust concert, scheduled for February 14, 2026 in Qatar, will not proceed after the event failed to secure mandatory government permits and regulatory approvals. The announcement came directly from the band’s management in a statement posted on the group’s official Facebook page.
In the statement — shared on the band’s social channels and attributed to VIVA Records and VIVA Live — Cup of Joe’s team sought to clarify the circumstances surrounding the planned show, which had generated excitement among Filipino communities in the Gulf and fans across the Middle East.
“This is to formally clarify that the proposed Cup of Joe show in Qatar will not proceed,” the statement read, underscoring that although a written agreement was executed with the local event producer, “the required government permits and regulatory approvals necessary to stage the event were not secured by the producer.”
According to the band’s management, the lack of these mandatory approvals means the event “cannot lawfully take place.” The statement also highlighted that Cup of Joe and its representatives have not received any ticket proceeds directly, nor have they authorized promotion of the event without confirmed permits in place.
“All compliance requirements fall under the responsibility of the local event producer,” the statement said, placing accountability on the partner organization in Qatar.
The band’s message noted that efforts were made to prompt the local promoter to issue a public advisory regarding the cancellation, but since no communication was released, Cup of Joe opted to issue the statement themselves “to prevent further confusion and misinformation.”
In closing, the team reiterated their commitment to performing only under “fully compliant and properly authorized arrangements to ensure the safety of our artists, team, and audience.” They also shared optimism about future opportunities, saying they “appreciate the continued support of our fans in Qatar and hope to visit under proper and approved circumstances in the future.”
Cup of Joe — which has risen rapidly in popularity with hits like Multo and Tingin — had been poised to bring its Stardust production to Doha’s Qatar National Convention Centre, marking what would have been the band’s first major international showcase in the region. The cancellation marks a significant setback for fans who had planned to attend the Valentine’s Day concert.
Further details from ticketing partners and local authorities regarding refunds or rescheduling have not yet been released.
