Justine Karl S. Razon first drew public admiration last July when her TikTok video—showing her in full graduation attire quietly eating siomai and siopao after finishing her Latin-honor degree—spread across social media. The emotional clip resonated with thousands online, many identifying with the quiet triumphs and sacrifices that define the journey of Filipino students.
Among those who noticed her viral moment was educator and CBRC founder Dr. Carl E. Balita, who had commented on her post during the height of its circulation. Moved by her story, he offered to sponsor her licensure examination review under the Carl E. Balita Review Center.
Balita revisited her story this week in a Facebook post celebrating her latest achievement. “Nataandaan nyo ba sya? Sya yung gumraduate with latin honors and nag viral dahil sa kanyang handang siomai at siopao during graduation day,” he wrote, announcing that Razon has now officially passed the board exam. He added: “Ini-SCHOLAR natin sya sa review at ngayon ay ganap ng Agriculturist Passer! Congratulations, Justine Karl S. Razon.”
Razon’s viral video, which gained hundreds of thousands of likes and shares, showed her seated in a red jeepney still wearing her gown and sash. The caption overlay read: “Graduated with latin, celebrated with siomai in a jeepney. The cap and gown feel heavy, not with pride, but with the quiet ache of unshared joy.” Viewers were moved not only by the simplicity of her celebration but also by the unfiltered honesty of her message.
The CBRC founder said he is certain that her family is “proud na proud,” noting that her journey from a modest post-graduation meal to becoming a licensed professional reflects the quiet perseverance many Filipinos recognized in her viral moment.
