Cristy Fermin vows to face libel case filed by Bea Alonzo, says she will post bail

Veteran entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin confirmed she will post bail and face the libel complaint filed by actress Bea Alonzo, following the issuance of an arrest warrant against her and her co-hosts.

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 93 recently released an arrest order for Fermin and her fellow “Showbiz Now Na!” hosts Rommel Chika (Rommel Villamor) and Wendell Alvarez. Each was ordered to post bail amounting to ₱48,000.

In an interview with Bandera on July 30, Fermin said they had not yet received official notification from the court. “Wala kaming alam. Sinabi ko ngayon kay Rommel na may warrant kami at babayaran,” she said, adding that she’s more accustomed to such legal issues than her co-hosts: “Ako lang ang sanay na.”

She assured that bail proceedings would be handled the next day, July 31.

In a separate statement to Frontline sa Umaga, Fermin reaffirmed her plan to post bail and commented that libel cases have become a common part of her work in showbiz commentary.

The case stems from a complaint filed by Alonzo in May 2024, accusing Fermin of spreading “false, malicious, and damaging information” through her online show.
