Couple behind over 58-hour kissing record ends relationship after years together

Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat, the Thai couple who made global headlines in 2013 for holding the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous kiss, have announced their separation.

Ekkachai confirmed the split during a BBC Sounds podcast episode on February 17, 2025, sharing that the relationship eventually lost its spark. Without going into specific details, he simply expressed that it was time for them to move forward separately.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we share this personal change,” he said, adding that despite the breakup, he remains proud of the unforgettable milestone they achieved together.

The former couple captured worldwide attention after kissing for 58 hours and 35 minutes during a Valentine’s event in Pattaya, Thailand, organized by Ripley’s Believe It or Not!.

Their record-breaking feat not only earned them international recognition but also a cash prize and diamond rings. Before setting the record in 2013, the couple had attempted a similar challenge in 2011, lasting 46 hours and 24 minutes.

Despite parting ways, Ekkachai said they continue to have mutual respect and are committed to peaceful co-parenting of their children.
