Content creator Ileiad, whose real name is Jeff Jacinto, is pleading with actor Mon Confiado to withdraw a cyber libel complaint filed against him. The complaint stems from a post Jacinto made on his meme page that portrayed the actor in a negative light through a viral “copypasta” scenario.
acinto revealed in a Rappler report that he reached out to Confiado online, apologizing for the post and asking him to discourage others from harassing him. Jacinto claims he has been subjected to harassment, death threats, and doxing since the incident.
The controversial post, which used a meme format popular on forums like 4chan, depicted Confiado in a grocery store acting rudely. Despite being intended as humor, the post led Confiado to file a complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation on August 12. Confiado expressed concern that not everyone would recognize the post as a joke, saying, “Even if this is just a joke or a meme, not everyone is familiar with it, and you posted it on Facebook. People can easily believe such posts.”
Jacinto admitted that he made a “big mistake” by not taking down the post immediately when Confiado first requested it. Instead, he added a disclaimer, which Confiado found insincere. Reflecting on the situation, Jacinto acknowledged that his response was “arrogant and condescending” and that he failed to foresee the potential damage the post could cause outside of the meme community.
The content creator, who has since deactivated his social media accounts, expressed regret over the incident and hopes for a resolution.
