Construction workers find shabu worth P11.4 million at NAIA Terminal 1

Construction workers demolishing an old restaurant kitchen at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 unearthed shabu valued at P11.4 million. As reported by GMA News, the illegal drugs were concealed in three large packs inside a grease trap.

During the demolition process, the workers extracted these packets and identified them as alleged shabu. The find prompted immediate notification to law enforcement agencies, leading to the involvement of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group.

PDEA’s assessment revealed that the packets collectively weighed approximately 1.5 kilograms. This significant discovery raises concerns about security protocols at the airport. The Manila International Airport Authority has been approached for comments but has not yet provided insights into how the substantial quantity of illegal drugs ended up stored within the restaurant premises.
