Cavite 4th District Representative Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga, known for his eccentric style, revealed on Wednesday, October 8, that he has drafted an impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
During a live vlog streamed from the House of Representatives plenary hall, Barzaga pulled out the physical copy of the document, calling it “The Marcos impeachment complaint.” The congressman said the filing was based on “betrayal of public trust.”
“So under the grounds of betrayal of public trust, I am filing an impeachment for President Marcos. And hopefully, Congress will remove him soon, so we can start investigating those involved in the flood control anomalies,” Barzaga declared in the video.
Before unveiling the document, he opened his vlog with a jab at fellow lawmakers, saying, “Welcome back to the crocodile farm. Absent ulit ang mga buwaya, nagbakasyon na hehehe (The crocodiles are absent, they’re on vacation).”
If Barzaga proceeds with the filing and endorsement before the House secretary general, it would mark the first impeachment complaint lodged against Marcos.
Ironically, the alleged flood control irregularities cited by Barzaga were first exposed by Marcos himself. Following the revelation, Malacañang formed the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to probe the reported anomalies and determine accountability.
