Commuting in Dubai gets easier as RTA revamps popular bus routes

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced significant restructuring of several bus routes in the emirate, effective from November 20, 2023.

This overhaul includes renaming and restructuring key bus routes, aimed at enhancing rider convenience and ensuring smoother, more efficient journeys across Dubai. Among the notable changes are:

Route 11A, now split into Routes 16A and 16B, connecting the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department, Al Awir Branch, with the Gold Souq Bus Station.
Route 20, replaced by Routes 20A and 20B, running between Al Nahda Bus Stop and Warsan 3 Bus Stop.
Route 367, becoming Routes 36A and 36B, serving between the Silicon Oasis High Bay Bus Stop and the Etisalat Bus Station.
Additional adjustments include:

The elimination of Route 21’s service to the Onpassive Metro Station.
A shortened Route 24, terminating at Dubai Festival City.
An extension of Route 53 to the International City Bus Station.
A revised Route F17, starting from Onpassive Metro Station.
Modified Routes F19A and F19B, now passing through Business Bay Metro Bus Stop South 2.
A rerouted Route H04 through Hatta Souq.
These changes are geared towards reducing travel times and ensuring quicker arrival at destinations.

Furthermore, the locations of certain Metro Max Bus Stops have been shifted to reduce walking distances. For example, the stop for Routes 10, 21, 27, 83, 88, 95, 32C, 91A, X28, X92, and X94 is now at Metro Max Stop 2, and the stop for Routes 29, 61, and C26 has moved to Al Jaffiliya Bus Station.

The RTA also plans to enhance journey times for multiple routes, reflecting their commitment to integrating the public bus network with other transportation modes like the metro, tram, and marine transport.
