College student working as delivery rider shot dead in Pasig City

A 22-year-old college student, Allan Vincent Eugenio, was shot dead in front of his home in Barangay Sumilang, Pasig City early Monday after returning from his job as a delivery rider. The tragic incident unfolded as two men approached Eugenio while he was parking his motorcycle. One of the suspects drew a firearm and shot him multiple times before fleeing with his motorcycle.

Eugenio’s mother, who heard the gunshots, recounted the harrowing moment when she realized her son was the victim. “May narinig akong putok, apat na putok… Maya-maya pa, may narinig ako, ‘Mommy, daddy.’ Sabi ko, ‘Anak ko yun ha,’” she shared in grief. She and other family members rushed outside to find Eugenio lying motionless on the ground.

Despite efforts to save him, Eugenio succumbed to 10 gunshot wounds after being rushed to the hospital. His death was mourned by the local parish church, where he had served as a sacristan.

The Pasig City Police moved swiftly, arresting the two suspects, aged 19 and 20, within 24 hours. According to Pasig City Police Chief PCol. Hendrix Mangaldan, the suspects had previous charges for carnapping and attempted homicide. “Modus operandi nila na mag-carnap ng motorcycle and then ‘pag medyo may resistance ‘yung biktima, binabaril,” Mangaldan explained.

The suspects now face charges of violation of the carnapping law, illegal possession of firearms, and murder.
