Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro will continue to take the lead in managing Malacañang’s official media briefings after receiving a positive performance review from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
Her continued designation was confirmed through Special Order 25-174, signed by PCO Secretary Dave Gomez on July 29. The directive authorizes Castro to represent both the Office of the President and the PCO in coordinating press briefings and media-related engagements.
“She is doing a fine job,” Gomez said in a Philstar.com report, following a recently initiated performance audit of PCO units and personnel since he took over the agency earlier this month.
As outlined in the order, Castro is responsible for delivering official statements, briefing the press on presidential initiatives, and working closely with other PCO departments, including the Media Accreditation and Relations Office and the Presidential News Desk. She will also be in charge of preparing talking points and briefing materials for key official events.
Castro joined the PCO in February, alongside former secretary Jay Ruiz. She is expected to continue serving as one of the administration’s most visible spokespersons in government media operations.
