Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua has expressed surprise over the re-election of lawmakers who signed the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte in the 2025 elections.
Chua’s remarks came amid claims that the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas struggled in Mindanao due to the impeachment issue against Duterte. However, despite this, several signatories of the impeachment complaint secured their congressional seats.
“I have no idea about the political situation in Mindanao. But I am surprised why the congressmen who signed the impeachment complaint, who were very active in the Quad Comm, won,” Chua said.
He further emphasized his confusion, asking, “I just wonder how those who actively participated in the Quad Comm, the Blue Ribbon Committee, and signed the impeachment still won. They were directly involved.”
Aside from Chua, other lawmakers who signed the impeachment complaint but won re-election include Manila 1st District Rep. Ernix Dionisio and Manila 2nd District Rep. Rolando Valeriano.
