In a candid interview with Toni Gonzaga on her show “Toni Talks,” Chloe San Jose, the girlfriend of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, shared her emotional experience regarding the ongoing conflict with Carlos’s family, particularly his mother, Angelica Yulo. Chloe expressed her hurt and disappointment over the situation, which has been widely discussed in recent months.
“Family… should be the first ones also na sinusuportahan ka, pinoprotektahan ka. So why is it the opposite?” Chloe questioned during the interview, reflecting on the painful rift between her and Carlos’s family.
The conflict began when Carlos’s mother publicly blamed Chloe for the strained relationship with her son, labeling her a “red flag” and criticizing her background. This tension intensified when Carlos revealed that his mother had control over his finances from his athletic achievements, leading to allegations of mishandling his prize money.
Carlos has openly defended Chloe, explaining that his mother had judged her based on her appearance and personality without even meeting her. He further clarified that Chloe is financially independent and that their relationship has grown stronger despite the family’s disapproval.
In the interview, Chloe also spoke about the emotional toll the conflict has taken on her, particularly with the lack of support from Carlos’s family. “Sila yung nauunang mag-down sa ‘yo, sila ‘yung una na hindi naniwala sa ‘yo,” she added.
Despite the publicized nature of the feud, Carlos has called for reconciliation, expressing hope that his family can move forward and focus on his achievements as an athlete.
